Tasting at Anaba Winery

This is such a great winery. I’ve tasted here many times but it never gets old. This time I had the pleasure of taking my niece who has recently turned 21!

Their pinot noirs are very good, but the big draw for me is their Rhone varietals. Here are the wines that I thought made this tasting!

2018 Turbine Red: Every vintage of this is a winner. What I love in this one is the baking spices, dark cherry and blackberry, tobacco, with plum and prunes. It’s got a savory element and is quite rich with tannins. An amazing everyday red!

2019 Viognier, Landa Vineyard: A delightful white. Has a hint of peach and a slight floral note. I also got a bit of ruby red grapefruit and melon. The crisp acid gives a nice structure and I love the lasting finish.

2019 Turbine White: I think this is the best version of this wine they’ve done to date. 30% Viognier, 28% Grenache Blanc, 26% Marsanne, 16% Picpoul Blanc. This is the wine for those who need to branch out from Chardonnay and Sauv Blanc! It has rich melon and lemon peel with a bit of slate.

2017 Pinot Noir, Sangiacomo Roberts Road: Talk about a rich pinot! It has great structure that lends itself to a long finish. Fuller bodied pinot lovers will like this one. It has fresh dark cherry notes along with backed berry pie and a savory quality almost like shale. The 2018 vintage of the pinot from this vineyard is also beautiful but very different. I highly recommend both.
